Who we are

Japan Cultural Exchange of New York (JCXNY) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Brooklyn, New York. We run Japanese language and culture classes for children and families. This page explains what information we collect through this website and what we do with it.

What we collect

Contact form: what you type in, such as your name, email address and message.

Membership form: the information you enter. The form is run by Google, and Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Donations: processed by PayPal. We never see or store your card or bank numbers. PayPal tells us your name, email address and donation amount so we can record your gift and thank you. PayPal's privacy policy applies: https://www.paypal.com/us/legalhub/privacy-full

Email: if you email us, we keep your email address and message so we can reply.

Google Search and Maps listing: JCXNY has a free listing on Google Search and Maps (Google Business Profile). Google collects information about how people use that listing, such as views, direction requests, calls and clicks to our website, and sends us a monthly summary. This happens on Google's own pages under Google's privacy policy, not on our website.

How we use it

To run our classes and program.

To reply to your questions.

To record donations and send thank-you notes.

About children

Much of our program serves children. Information about a student, such as a name, age or grade, comes to us from a parent or guardian through the membership form. We use it only to run the program.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

We do not share your information with advertisers.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Who can see it

Only the people who run JCXNY can see this information. Google and PayPal process what they need to provide their services, under their own privacy policies.

How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as we need it to run the program and keep proper records.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Write to us through the contact form or at info@jcxny.org.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
